Question

An Imaam recites an Aayat of Sajdah in Jahri Salaah.  As soon as he recites it, he goes into Ruku and makes the intention of Sajdah Tilaawah:

‌أ.        Is the above procedure permissible?

‌ب.       Will the Muqtadi’s Sajdah tilaawat be also completed by the Imaam making intention in the Ruku?

‌ج.       If not, then how will the Muqtadi complete his Sajdah Tilaawat?

‌د.        If the Imaam does not make Niyyah in the Ruku in the above case nor does he make a separate Sajdah Tilaawat then how will the Sajdah Tilaawat be fulfilled?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is permissible for an Imam to recite an ayat of Sajdah and make the intention of it in the ruku. The muqtadi’s sajdah will not be completed by the imam making intention in the ruku. The muqtadi must make the intention in the ruku for the sajdah tilawat. If the muqtadi doesn’t make the intention, then he must do a sajdah after the salam of the imam with a tashauhud. If the Imam doesn’t make niyyah in the ruku nor does he make a separate sajdah tilawat then the sajdah of the salah will be sufficient for him regardless of it, he makes intention or he doesn’t.
