Question:

I know I shouldn’t eat haram, but when I eat rice with the haram meat it would’ve contaminated the rice and stew. So when some of the rice dropped on the floor I accidentally stepped on it when I stood up, I then proceeded to walk out of my room. The impurity from the rice would’ve spread by the taste of it on the floor since it’s mixed with stew. The carpet had dried out later but became wet again from my wet feet which I’m 100% as I showered.

I then smelt the wet floor and there was no smell of the food and neither could I see the impurity. Can I assume the impurity didn’t transfer and it was from something else ? I saw a fatwa on this website that said if a wet hand touches an impure towel the impurity only transfers if two of the three characteristics are present on the other hand. Can this fatwa be applied in this situation to cause ease since the smell and colour of impurity wasn’t present anymore.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is of utmost importance for a Muslim to eat Halal. As mentioned in the Quran and Hadith, if one consumes haram and unlawful food, his dua will not be accepted by Allah.

It should be pointed out that not everything that is haram will be najis and impure. Therefore if the rice falls on the floor, it will not make it najis and there will be no transfer of impurity. It should be noted also, that food that falls should be picked up. You should then remove the dirt and eat it. It should not be left on the floor as this will be considered as showing ungratefulness to the favour and blessing of Allah.
