Question:
Can I give zakat to my maid? Her daughter had an accident and needs surgery. So can I help her with the money I had kept for zakat..she is poor and doesn’t have gold or property?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
It is permissible to use Zakat funds in this scenario.
This is because the recipient (the maid’s daughter) does not fall under those prohibited to discharge zakat.1
Discharging Zakat in this scenario is not disliked as it is separate from the wages.
