Question:

Is creating a human voice using software considered kufr? Today, computer software can even mimic the human voice and adjust aspects such as breath, tone, and depth, expression just like a real human can do with their voice.

By using this type of software I can create a real human voice that no one can notice. I can use these voices for various projects such as educational videos etc.

I am concerned that this may be considered as imitating Allah’s creation.

Does that mean using software to create a human voice is kufr?”

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In the Quran (Surah Zumar Ayah 62) Allah say: “Allah is creator of everything”. And everything is created to be in service of man.

With the advancement of technology, there are many benefits. One will be allow to use it and benefit from it as long as there is nothing in the shariah that prohibits it.

Creating human voice through software is not kufr and is permissible to use for different purposes. As mentioned if it is used for educational purposes, it will be allowed.

However if it is used to mock at people and to deceive others, then this will be completely prohibited.

With regards to your concern, the prohibition apply only to those who make pictures. They the one imitating the creation of Allah As in the features and not the voice.
