Question:

When can the Dhuhr prayer be performed after Dahwae Kubra time starts?

Due to working hours pattern. Most of the time I struggle to get a break for the prayer.

Answer:

The Islamic midday (al-Dahwatul Kubra) is the half-way spot between sunrise and sunset. The Dhuhr salah can be performed after al-Dahwatul Kubra and until afternoon (when a shadow of a vertical object is twice its length plus the zenith shadow) when Asr salah time sets in.

In winter it is preferable to perform the Zohr salah at the early time except on cloudy days when it is preferable to delay. And in summer it is preferable to delay and perform the Zohr salah after the intense heat rays have passed and so this works in your favour to some extent. Nevertheless, the Zuhr salah performed until Asr time will be valid. However, if it is delayed without a valid excuse, it will be makruh (disliked). ^{1 2}

1 (وَوَقْتُ الظُّهْرِ مِنْ زَوَالِهِ) أَيْ مَيْلِ ذُكَاءَ عَنْ كَبِدِ السَّمَاءِ (إلَى بُلُوغِ الظِّلِّ مِثْلَيْهِ) وَعَنْهُ مِثْلَهُ، وَهُوَ قَوْلُهُمَا وَزُفَرَ وَالْأَئِمَّةِ الثَّلَاثَةِ. قَالَ الْإِمَامُ الطَّحَاوِيُّ: وَبِهِ نَأْخُذُ. وَفِي غُرَرِ الْأَذْكَارِ: وَهُوَ الْمَأْخُوذُ بِهِ. وَفِي الْبُرْهَانِ: وَهُوَ الْأَظْهَرُ. لِبَيَانِ جِبْرِيلَ. وَهُوَ نَصٌّ فِي الْبَابِ. وَفِي الْفَيْضِ: وَعَلَيْهِ عَمَلُ النَّاسِ الْيَوْمَ وَبِهِ يُفْتَى (سِوَى فَيْءٍ)

2 (وأول وقت الظهر إذا زالت الشمس) . عن كبد السماء (وآخر وقتها عند أبي حنيفة) رحمه الله (إذا صار ظل كل شيء مثليه سوى فيء الزوال) ؛ أي الفيء الذي يكون وقت الزوال، هذا ظاهر الرواية عن الإمام نهاية وهي رواية محمد في الأصل، وهو الصحيح كما في الينابيع والبدائع والغاية والمنية والمحيط، واختاره برهان الشريعة المحبوبي، وعول عليه النسفي، ووافقه صدر الشريعة ورجح دليله، وفي الغيائية: وهو المختار، واختاره المتون، وارتضاه الشارحون
