Question:
I committed Zina with my (now) wife before we did our nikaah. We will deeply repent for our sins and pray that Allah SWT forgives us.
Is my Nikaah still valid? I did not repent between the time of committing Zina and the Nikaah. I will repent now after 5 month
I have heard that you are required to repent before your nikaah to make it valid – is this true? If so what can I do to make this right?
Is there such a thing as repeating a Nikaah? I am afraid that I would have to inform the witnesses
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Your nikah is valid. There is no need to renew your nikah, nor to inform anyone that you had committed fornication.
You have committed a grave crime, thus you both must repent sincerely and beg Allah for forgiveness. InshaAllah your sincere repentance will wipe away your past sins.
