Question:

So I was reading 2 sunah rakaats of maghrib and in the second rakah I was having doubts on whether I did the ruku position but I ignored this as I am pretty sure I wouldn’t have missed this step out in my salah. I finished my salah and did my dhikr but then the doubts kept coming so I just prayed the 2 sunnah rakahs again. Was I right in doing this or should I have started the whole prayer again?

I read somewhere that if you have the intention that your finished your salah then you should start again but I didn’t as I assumed that I did do the ruku step so I just repeated the sunnah.

Answer:

The principle in Shari’ah is that certainty is not removed by doubts. So if you convinced you made the ruku, then the salah would be fine.

If you repeat it as a matter of precaution then It would be well and good as this is ibadah. But the salah itself would be valid and accepted if you didn’t repeat it.

If it was the case you missed the ruku in the sunnah salah, you wouldn’t have to repeat the whole salah from the fardh and the sunnah. You only repeat the sunnah.
