Question:

I am 18 years old and have had an ejaculation in a dream for over 4 years, but for about 1 year I have had a dream in which I get up and am about to ejaculate, then sometimes I cannot resist and do something that Penis aroused.  Is that haram what I did?  And could you tell me what to do when something like this happens?  Something without masturbation, please.

Answer:

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“…and they who guard their private parts except for their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed but whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.” (23:5-7)

When referring to the “transgressors”, some Ulamaa say “transgressors” include those to masturbate, making it impermissible:

إنه كالفاعل بنفسه و هي معصية

“It is like a person who does it himself, and it is a sin” (Tafsir Qurtubi, Vol 15, Pg 12)

You can fast to improve your discipline:

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said: “The Messenger of Allah said to us: ‘O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding chastity, and whoever cannot then he should fast, for it will be a restraint for him. (Sunan Nasai, 3209)

You should stay away from anything that could cause you to masturbate and take the necessary means to control your desires. If you wake up and feel the urge to masturbate, try to make yourself busy with something else.

You should make Du’aa to Allah to strengthen your resolve and help you to stay away from this sin.
