Question:

I had done wudhu multiple times when this had happened. It wasn’t until after Fajr today that I had realised that I actually had a small amount of fluff from my socks. I believe that it (because this has happened before) got stuck in my big toe. I took it out but then I realised it was stuck inside my toe so I used a nail cutter to get it out.

Does this create a barrier in my wudhu? Just to note, I have done my wudhu with this and prayed a lot of salahs during the week but I hadn’t noticed this before until today.

Answer:

If in terms of reaching the skin the fluff causes no barrier for water to pass through, then there would be no issue for the fluff being present. If the fluff was presenting an obstacle and preventing

If there was no impurity attached to the fluff and the water passed through the fluff in the same condition as it went in, then the fluff would not be considered an obstacle or a cause for concern in order for the thorough completion of ablution to take place.

The fluff does not cause a barrier in wudhu and there would be no need to repeat the prayers which were prayed with that being present there.

The Prophet PBUH mentions regarding completing wudhu thoroughly and the dangers of leaving wudhu incomplete:

Narrated `Abbad bin Tamim:

My uncle asked Allah’s Messenger () about a person who imagined to have passed wind during the prayer. Allah’ Apostle replied: “He should not leave his prayers unless he hears sound or smells something.
