Question:

Can you give Zakat through the business so you can claim your VAT back?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

You may discharge your Zakat through whichever halal avenue you may like as long as it is discharged properly.

Paying Zakat through your business account is permissible and the benefits you may receive from the government will be considered a gift from the government. (1)

(1)(وجه) الاستحسان أن الهبة في اللغة عبارة عن مجرد إيجاب المالك من غير شريطة القبول وإنما القبول والقبض لثبوت حكمها لا لوجودها في نفسها فإذا أوجب فقد أتى بالهبة فترتب عليها الأحكام
