Question:
Is it appropriate to name a boy Haseeb Ahmed?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
It is important to choose a good name for one’s child while naming them.
Abu Darda narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: On the Day of Resurrection you will be called by your names and by your father’s names, so give yourselves good names. (Sunan Abu Dawood, hadith # 4948)[1]
With regards to your question, the name Haseeb is an Arabic masculine given name meaning “noble”, “respected” or “reckoner”. Giving this name to a child would not be considered inappropriate.
Only Allah (عز و جل) knows best.
