Question:
During Tarāwīḥ, if a brother behind is hasty in giving you luqmah during the Ṣalāh, can you use a hand gesture to signal him to calm down and not be hasty?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
If someone is hasty in giving luqmah during Tarawih, it is permissible for the one leading to use a hand gesture to signal the person to calm down and not be hasty.
Many a times people are hasty in correcting the Imam who is leading the Tarawih due to wanting to show him that they know the Surah etc. This is something completely incorrect as the Imam should be afforded time to correct himself, and further to this there are specific people appointed for giving out luqmahs such as the other huffadh who are also leading the Tarawih.[1]
