Question:

 

Had a question about Miswak. Is it okay to use it and what happens if you swallow the flavour it gives out 

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

Answer:

 

Yes, one can do Miswak in the state of fast during رمضان, there is no harm and also there is no harm if someone brushes the teeth without paste. 

 

However, it is makrooh to brush with paste during the fast. 

 

If the particles of the food enter inside the stomach through the throat then fast shall break.

 

It is mentioned in the book of Raddul Muhtar–

 

The Hanafi school of thought said there will be no detestibility during Ramadan to do Miswak. Imam Shafie (Rh)  said after zawal miswak is makruh during ramadan. (1)

 

Imam Abul Barakat Abdullah Ibn Ahmad An-Nasafi said:  ( 2)

 

There will be no detestability during Ramadan to do  Kuhl, oiling of the moustache, Miswak and kiss if safe.
