Question:

Is shaving the head of a newborn girl also sunnah? Or just boys?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The shaving of the head refers to both boys and girls due to the generality of the statement. (Umdatul Qari, Vol 21, Pg 131)

في حديث سلمان : أميطوا عنه الأذى و من جملة الأذى شعر رأسه الملوث من البطن ، و بعمومه يتناول الذكر و الأنثى
