Question:
I am writing to seek your guidance regarding an issue that has been troubling me for the past four to five years, affecting my ability to perform salah and other acts of worship that require taharah (purity).
My issue is related to post-void dribbling. Every time I urinate and leave the toilet, after about 2 to 3 minutes, one or two drops of urine come out, and then it stops completely. I do not experience any further leakage or discharge until the next time I pass urine. This cycle repeats every single time I urinate.
Here is a detailed description of my situation:
I have also tried waiting inside the toilet for 2 to 3 minutes after urinating, to make sure the urine has completely stopped, but even after doing this, one or two drops still come out after I exit. I have tried various other methods to ensure nothing remains inside, such as:
Pressing the area around the scrotum,
Gently pressing my private part,
Remaining seated for a longer time.
Despite all of these efforts, after exiting the toilet, I always experience one or two drops of urine coming out within 2 to 3 minutes, and then it stops completely. This happens every single time I relieve myself and has continued for several years.
Because of this issue, I am struggling to maintain taharah. I feel disturbed and frustrated by the things I have to do in order to perform my salah properly. I am constantly worried about the validity of my wudhu and my prayer, and it has become mentally exhausting.
I respectfully request your guidance on the following matters:
- If I place a cloth or tissue inside my underwear to absorb these drops, is this permissible? What are the rulings regarding this practice in terms of purity?
- After using such a cloth or tissue to absorb the drops, do I need to wash my private part again after removing the cloth before performing wudhu and salah?
- Can I reuse the same cloth multiple times throughout the day, or do I have to replace it every time?
I humbly request that you kindly advise me on practical steps I can take to manage this issue, so that I can focus on my ibadah with peace of mind and avoid falling into constant worry and frustration.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Answer:
After Istinja’ it is necessary to do Istibra’, which in your case may require waiting or walking around. One should only do Wudhu once the drops of urine have stopped [1].
If you are confident that drops of urine come out even after Istibra’ then simply place a fresh piece of tissue in your underwear each time you have finished Istinja’ and leave it there for a while before checking it. If you see drops that are clearly yellow, then dispose of the tissue, wash the affected area thrice and perform Wudhu thereafter [2]. You should then assume you are pure until the next time you urinate or lose Wudhu [3].
