Question:

I hope you are in the best of health and imaan.

I had a question to ask.

I wanted to know: is full body laser hair removal and also lightening of the private area allowed if done by another female?

I know there’s an issue of showing the area between the navel and knees to another female, but if it’s done for the sake of one’s marriage and husband, then would it be permissible? Because it’s sort of a treatment.

I know there are other methods of removing hair; however, they cause ingrown hair, cuts, pigmentation, prickly hair growth, and scars due to the area (down below) being sensitive.

If it’s impacting one’s marital and sexual relation with their spouse, then would it be permissible?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

It is not permissible for a woman to expose the area between her navel and knees to another woman except in cases of genuine necessity as defined by Islamic law. According to Hanafi jurisprudence, a woman’s gaze upon another woman is similar to a man’s gaze upon another man, meaning it is only permissible to look at areas outside of the private parts. Since full-body laser hair removal or lightening of private areas by another woman does not fall under necessity (ḍarūrah), it remains impermissible, especially when other alternatives, though less convenient or with side effects, are available.

know that beauty in marriage is not only about external appearance but also about love, care, and emotional connection. A husband who truly values his wife will appreciate her beyond superficial aspects. If this matter is causing distress in your marriage, try discussing it openly with your spouse and explore permissible alternatives together. Trust that Allah has placed barakah in what is lawful, and true contentment comes from sincerity and mutual understanding in a relationship.

Only Allah knows best.
