Question:

Madrasah hiring fundraisers on a percentage basis?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Whatever money is collected as zakāt in a fundraiser for a madrasah, such money is entitled only to the madrasah students. It is not correct to pay teachers or other employees from this collected amount. If besides the fundraiser amount for zakāt, any other amount is collected like general sadqah, then the employees of the madrasah can be paid from that.

In this case, if the amount that is collected in the fundraiser in the madrasah is besides zakāt meaning it is any other amount that is collected as sadaqh, then that amount can be used to pay employees like a person who does the fundraiser. It is also permissible that the fundraiser employee is given a portion from the donations that he collects, such as a sixth, an eighth, or one-sixteenth, according to the time and effort that he exerts, so that this would be an incentive to make a great effort.
