Question:
- Games where you steal, pickpocket money/items from real people, do they take the same ruling as real life and are they permissible?
- Games where there appears to be a cross without glorifying it, are they permissible?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Playing video games in itself is not commendable. This is because it includes many wrong things such as animate objects, music and immoral acts.
Playing such games where that involve stealing will not be the same ruling as stealing in real life, however, this is reprehensible. Later it can be a social implication where a person gets the habit of stealing even in real life.
When it comes to cross-in games. Although one is not glorifying everything they see, It will definitely have an effect on a person’s heart which can be detrimental to one’s imaan.
Therefore it is very important to understand that Allah has given us a short time in this world. The purpose of our life is to be in the worship of Allah and to obey him. Time is a valuable asset which cannot be wasted in playing games.
Only Allah (عز و جل) knows best.
