Reading Salah in Ahle Hadith Mosque

CategoriesSalaah [867]

would like to know something, concerning the salafi people.

Is it OK for us to go and pray at a salafi mosque (e.g Green Lane Mosque)?

Is it OK for us to send our children to their madrasa?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

The first question asked is quite vague, thus there are two possible meanings one can take from the question. Firstly, whether it is permissible to read Salah in an Ahle Hadith Mosque or not and secondly whether it is permissible to read Salah behind an Ahle Hadith Imam.

A Mosque is a place which has been permanently dedicated to Allah (SWA) for the sake of Salah, recitation and his remembrance. Similarly, any land that has been dedicated for the sake of congregation prayers will also be called a mosque. (Tahtaawi p.172 v.4)

All the mosques in the world are equally worthy or respect. Just as it is a great sin to desecrate in any way the Baytul Maqdis or Masjid Al Haram or the Mosque of the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam the same prohibition holds with regards to all other mosques. (Maariful Quran P.296 V.1)

Therefore we can conclude that there is nothing wrong in reading Salah in an Ahle Hadith, Deobandhi mosques etc… At the end of the day these are all Masaajids, thus, are worthy of respect.

If the question was whether reading Salah behind an Ahle hadith Imam permissible or not, the ruling is that if the Imam holds views that such as “Taqleed” is impermissible etc… then it will be best  to avoid reading Salah behind such an Imam. (Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband p.106 v.3)

Finally, if you are sending you’re children to learn the Holy Quran or Tajweed then there is nothing wrong with sending them there. However, if you are sending them to learn about Fiqh or Hadith, then it will best to avoid it.
