Question:

An imam reading Surah Takweer forgets the second verse and reads:

وإذا النجوم سقطت intentionally knowing that سقطت isn’t the correct word but tried to read a word which portrays a similar meaning of the verse. Will the salah be valid and would the Imam be sinful for doing so?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If the Imam recites a mistake that will change the meaning of the Qur’ān either by adding, subtracting, or reading another word in place of that word then the prayer will be fāsid. In this case, the Salah will not be valid and will need to be repeated.[1]
