Question:

I work in the food delivery industry and this is my first Ramadan where I will work as a food delivery driver. Is it haram to deliver food before Iftar to whom is not Muslim?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The conditions that make the rulings of fasting compulsory upon a person are Islam, sanity and maturity. If a person is not a muslim they are not required to follow the rulings of the Shari’ah that are unique to Muslims, such as salah and fasting. Also, a fasting person is not required to abstain from selling or delivering food.

Therefore, it would be permissible for a person to deliver food to non-muslim customers during Ramadhan. When it comes to the sale of food, one should keep in mind that even if they were delivering food to a Muslim, the seller would not know when the customer plans to eat the food they have delivered to them, as the customer might just be ordering their food early for iftar and not to eat during their fast.
