Question:

Can unnecessary hairs be removed during periods?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Salam alikum,

In Islam, there is no prohibition on removing unwanted hair during menstruation. It is a matter of personal preference. However, it might be more comfortable to wait until after menstruation is complete, as one might experience increased sensitivity during this time.

Fath al-Qadeer, Volume 1, Darul Kutub al-Ilmiya, page 278:

«لا يوجد حظر على إزالة الشعر في فترة الحيض، هذا من الأمور التي لا تؤثر على الطهارة.»

“There is no prohibition on removing hair during the period of menstruation; this is among the matters that do not affect purity (taharah).”

Only Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) knows best.
