Question:
I wanted to ask if it is permissible according to Islamic principles to use driving test booking apps. Usually, the dates for driving tests are 18 weeks far at least, and people use these apps paying them a higher price. These apps hold a test for you for a few minutes and you have to accept the slot within that time frame. But during that time someone who’s looking for a test online without using these apps will not be able to find the test as I would have paid more using the app.
Will this action not interfere as Huqooq Ul Ibaad?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Booking services and apps have made things easier for booking appointments such as driving tests certain booking apps charge a premium price and secure a test slot faster.
However, Islam emphasises on fairness and transparency in all transactions. Qur’an and Hadith, warn against exploitation and harm to others.
In the issue of driving test apps, if someone uses these services to block access to test slots by reserving them for a brief period, then offering them at a higher price, this could be viewed as unfair, it seems this service can cause harm to others by increasing the price or making the service unavailable for others which is not just and equal
With regards to huqqoq al ibaad the practice of making it unavailable to others is a form of injustice as it affects others’ accessing the driving test service at a reasonable price, which is a right they are entitled to.
Taking into consideration all the above it would be fair to say that it would be violating the rights of others therefore one should abstain from this kind of transaction in which his and other rights are violated by the company .
