Question:

For Hajj Ihram, are the penalties added together over the time in ihram? For example covering the face. We normally say 12 hours. Would that be cumulative or each time is separate?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The 12-hour period is not cumulative, but rather counted separately each time. The calculation is only valid if the item such as a covering or dressing is worn continuously without any interruption. This means it must remain in place, undisturbed, for the full duration.

If it is removed at any point, even out of necessity and then reapplied, the original 12-hour count is no longer applicable. The time does not continue from where it was paused; instead, a completely new 12-hour period begins from the moment it is worn again after the interruption.
