Does the ruling on silver and golden utensils hold with regard to silver and golden plated things? In other words, is it haram to use silver or golden plated things as well?

Answer

It is permissible to use gold and silver plated utensils. (Raddul Muhtar p.497 v.9 & Fatawa Mahmoodiyah p.355 v.19)
