Question:

WHAT IS THE STATUS OF CIRCUMCISION IN ISLAM. IS IT NECESSARY FOR A MUSLIM TO GOES FOR IT

 Answer:

According to Imam Abu Hanifa circumcision is considered to be Sunnat Muakkadah, whereas Imam Shafi and Imam Ahmad consider it to be obligatory for both men and women. (Durre Mandhuud p.170 v.1)

The Prophet of Allah said: “The practices related to Fitrah (natural human ways) are five: Circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, trimming the moustache, pairing the nails and removing the hair of the armpits.” (Sahih Bukhari)

The Prophet of Allah said: “Circumcision is Sunnah for men and an honour for women” (Musnad Ahmad)
