Question:

I have a rather sensitive question that I pray you can provide me guidance with.
I would like to query what information needs to be disclosed to prospective marriage partners.
Specifically, an immediate member of my family has a genetic condition which causes the abnormal development of internal reproductive organs. Therefore she will never be able to have children. Her medical condition may have also impact husband and wife relations.

 Answer:

Bismillah

It is necessary that one reveals any disability or any other issues which are connected to the marriage in particular the one you have mentioned in the question which may hinder the sister in question to have children at the time of proposing to someone. Disclosing such information to the prospective suitor is essential, which will enable him to decide whether he wants to get married to her or not.

Hiding such information will be considered as deception and deception is unlawful in Islam.

The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) has said: “Whosoever deceives us he is not from us.” (Tabrani)
