Question 

I would like to know if it is permissible to pray Salah whilst I have applied hair loss medication which contains Cetyl and Stearyl alcohol

Answer

Cetyl and Stearyl alcohol are chemical forms of alcohol and are not the actual form of alcohol.

Moulana Khalid Saifullah in “Jadeed Fiqhi Masaail” (p.316 v.1) has categorized such alcohols which are found in perfumes, lotions, and creams to be “Najaasat Khafeefah” (lighter impurity). Thus, if less than a quarter of the hair is covered with it, the salah will be valid.
