Tajweed & Hifdh

CategoriesQur'an [166]

Question: What is the best way of learning Tajweed and doing Hifz. Should it be done separately or together? Could you please advise me?
Answer:

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Many madaris tend to teach Tajweed and Hifz separately. They will have classes specifically designed for beginners trying to learn the science of Tajweed and after completing the course they start “Amma Para” and then Hifz.

The benefit of using this approach is that students will be able to concentrate on one aspect of their studies instead of overloading them with rules and regulations of Tajweed and sabaq from “Amma Para.

Many teachers tend to give students sabaq individually or in groups of 2 or 3 than giving the whole class the same sabaq. This is because some students tend to learn or understand more quickly than other students.

Finally, there is nothing wrong for students to listen to each other’s daur especially where there is less time.

Further it is important to note that the procedure mentioned above varies according to the amount of time one can spend with the student along with other factors determining the study. There is no set rule on how to teach Tajweed & Hifz and teachers should administer whatever teaching methods they deem suitable for the capacity and well being of their students.
