Question:

What are your thoughts on allowing a female Maliki student to recite and touch the Qur’an during her menses in a female Hifz classes with majority desi-Hanafi students?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Although the Maliki school of thought permits the recitation of the Quran,[1] it would be courteous to adhere to the majority’s preference out of respect.

Respecting the Majority Practice:

Ihtiram Mumarisa holds that in an environment where a particular madhhab is in place (particularly one linked to institutional policies), people are urged to follow its external regulations, even if they adhere to their own beliefs internally.

Therefore, it would be summarised as preventing harm would take precedence over bringing benefit.[2] I’m sure if this was explained to her, there would be no grievances and she would make this allowance.
