Question:
Is it permissible to read salaah behind a salafi imam like the imams of the haram?
Does the salaah already performed also need to be repeated?

Answer:
Yes, it is permissible to perform Salah behind an Imam who is regarded as Salafi, including the Imams of the Two Harams, provided that the Imam is a Muslim whose beliefs do not amount to clear disbelief and he fulfils the conditions of valid Imamah. Also, prayer behind an innovator whose innovation does not reach disbelief is valid, though it may be disliked depending on the nature of the innovation [1].
Accordingly, the prayers performed behind the Imams of the Harams or any Imam who is considered ‘Salafi’ are valid and do not need to be repeated merely because those Imams are described as Salafi.
