Question

Can an Imam Lead the Khutba of Multiple Jummah during the COVID?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

An Imam can lead the Jummah Khutba multiple times, but one should ensure the following before leading the Khutba more than one time.

The person who is leading the second Jumma does the Khutba. If he does not know what to say, you can write the script of the khutba. This is because for khutba one can recite an ayat of the Quran in the first Khutba and for the second Khutba, he can recite an ayat and do dua for the Muslims.

You can also train some people from the congregation to do Kutbah and ask for volunteers beforehand, especially during these times where this will be a recurring issue.

If no one is literate enough to read from the book or no one is able to read the Khutba and Salah, then based on necessity the Imam can deliver the Khutba of the second or third Jummah congregations.

In short, on the basis of necessity, it is allowed for one to do the Khutba multiple times, but it will be virtuous if others are trained to do it.

Only Allah knows best.
