Question:
During Ramadan, I spotted for less than 3 days and due to it being like just a spot, I did not break my fast. Was I supposed to break that fast

Answer:
The minimum period of Haydh (menstruation) is 3 days (72 hours). Any bleeding lasting less than 3 days is considered Istihadah (non-menstrual bleeding). [1] In the state of Istihadah, you must still pray and fast as normal.
Istihadhah nullifies Wudhu; thus, if the bleeding is continuous, you must perform Wudhu for every Salah. Then you may pray and recite the Qur’an as much as you please during that Salah time, despite the continuous bleeding. Your Wudhu will only break if another factor nullifies it or if the Salah time ends. [2]
In conclusion, you were correct not to break your fast during Ramadan, as any spotting lasting less than 3 days is considered as Istihadah, and NOT Haydh.
