Question

Asalamu Alaikum sir I am in relation to a boy for 4 years it's our 5th year together and from the very beginning we wanted to marry each other but he was busy convincing his family for this marriage and we were waiting for our studies to end. I know that this relation is not halal until we do nikah but our intention was never wrong we always wanted to make it a halal relationship. Now he has involved his parents and both families are willing and happy but I have done istakhara and I saw red blood dots on my hand and during the dream, I was telling someone in my dream that I have done istakhara and I saw these blood dots on my hand. He/she answered me that these blood dots are making a sign on your hand which means you will never become a mother if you marry this man after that I saw a lot of dead bodies in a flowing river and then I saw myself on huge heightened stairs which were under a waterfall,  water was flowing over them and someone asked me to go down by these stairs so that I can become a mother then I was going down through those stairs that water was also dirty there were rice and dirt in that water I am so much worried we can't live without each other I don't know why I have seen these things my heart is not willing to accept this.. please guide me what should I do I am so worried. On the second day I did istakhara again and I saw a shopper full of purses of different colors and I asked for a white purse but someone took it then I took a pink purse but I lost it too. Then I picked a black purse but I don't remember that I lost it or got it I really want to marry him and he also wants the same we can't stay without each other I don't know this dream was my answer or it was only a bad dream?

Answer

Istikhara is to seek goodness from Allah in a matter you wish to undertake.

After Istikhara is done you should opt for what your heart is inclined to. It is a good practice to do Istikhara up to seven times because the prophet (P.B.U.H) has said to Anas (R A) “O Anas when you intend to do something then seek goodness (Istikhara) from Allah seven times and then look at what your heart is inclined to because it is good in it.” (Maraqi Al Falah,  pg. 152,  Darul Kutub Al Ilmiyah).

It is clear from the above that Istikhara is not connected with dreams.  If in your heart you are still inclined towards the boy in the same manner as before without basing it on the dream, then you may proceed with the nikah.

The way to tackle this problem is to first stop any sins you are committing and repent to Allah. Secondly, give regular charity and do Dua to Allah to remove All hardships and calamities from your life.
