Question

Why is “Khatna” (circumcision) compulsory in Islam? What is the reason behind this?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Circumcision is necessary for men in Islam, however, it is not necessary for women. There are 2 major reasons why it is necessary for men.

The first being that it is the sunnah of the Prophets (A.S) and it is their natural method.

Second, is that it is cleaner and more sanitary for males to be circumcised both for their own health as well as for their sexual interactions.
