Question:

Can I recite this dua in the final Rakat of Witr after the final Surah:

Allah humah dini fiman hadait. Wa’a fini fiman ‘afait. Watawallani fiman tawalait. Wabarikli fimaa a’tait. Waqinii syarramaa qadzait. Fainnaka taqdhi wala yuqdha ‘alaik. Wainnahu layadziluman walait. Walaa ya’izzuman ‘adait. Tabaa rakta rabbana wata’alait.

Also when I found pronunciations of this online the pronunciation was different to the transliteration as the ending of some words was changed. Should I recite the transliteration or the pronunciation?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

There is no specific Du’aa that must be read after the final Surah in the final Rak’ah of Witr. The common Du’aa ‘Allaahumma innaa nasta’eenuka…’ is read because the Sahaabah has agreed on it being Du’aa Qunoot. Therefore, it is best to read that one. Other Du’aas, such as the one you have written, can be read (Badai Al Sanai, Vol 2, Pg 233).

A few different variations of this Du’aa have been narrated in Hadith. The one you have written is mentioned in Sunan Abu Dawood (1425). The transliteration you wrote can be used. However, using it may result in the mispronunciation of certain words. Therefore, it would be best to use the Arabic text (see below) to ensure that you are pronouncing all the words correctly.

If you are unable to read the Arabic text, you can ask a family member, friend, or local Mufti to read it for you, so you can become familiar with the correct pronunciation. There are also a number of videos available on YouTube which you can use for the same purpose.

In conclusion, you can read the Du’aa you mentioned after the final Surah in the final Rak’at of Witr Salah. For the best pronunciation, you should use Arabic text instead of transliteration to avoid making errors.
