Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحي

Abu Saeed al-Khudri and Abdullah ibn Abbas raḥimahullāh (may Allāh have mercy upon him) relate that the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said. “Whoever is blessed by the Lord with children should give them good names, and good training and teach them good manners, and arrange for their marriage when they arrive at puberty (if he does not pay due heed to it), and fails to get them married, on reaching the marriageable age, (due to negligence) and they take to ways that are forbidden, the father will be held accountable for it.” (Mishakaat al-Masaabih pg: 271)

From the above mentioned Hadeeth it is clear that one should not delay the Nikah and  it’s the duty of the parents for the marriage of their children once they reached puberty. If there is fear of indulgence in sins then the Nikah should be done immediately otherwise a suitable time convenient to all parties may be chosen in the near future without too much delay.

Only Allah knows best.
