Question:
On the market today, you will find books containing the names of Allah, which say that if you say the name of Allah a certain number of times you will find what you lost, you will get back your job, you will have children if you don't have any and other different things. Is there any proof from the Qur’an or the sunnah or is this a bidah?
Answer:
Scholars and Awliyahs base these on personal experiences. There is nothing wrong in mentioning those benefits as long as they are benefits of this world. However, benefits specific with the hereafter have to be established from Allah or the Prophet of Allah .
The duas you will find in those books are linked with worldly benefits, therefore, as long as one does not believe it to be established from the Prophet of Allah , it will be permissible to read it and it would not be considered as a bidah.
