My daughter is in Canada she is breastfeeding her 1 and a half years old daughter during roza when she feeds her baby she gets so weak that she starts trembling and feels like fainting. The child is very aggressive and doesn’t let her mom go and doesn’t satisfy with other solid food .my daughter has another baby boy of 4 years of age who has autism .can my daughter skip fasts as she is the only woman in her house and there is nobody to take care of her household?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
A woman and especially a mother goes through hardships and tough times keeping things intact and providing the essentials for their children as well as taking care of themselves. May Allah SWT accept their efforts and elevate their statuses in the hereafter.
Allah is completely aware of the deeds and sincere actions our sisters do and overcome situations with patience:
وَٱصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And be patient! Certainly, Allah does not discount the reward of the good-doers. [Surah Hud verse 115]
If your daughter has exhausted all possibilities of feeding her one and a half-year-old for toddlers i.e. things could be baby milk powder or other methods that can be found in the link: https://www.llli.org/breastfeeding-info/bottles/
These are just suggestions perhaps that can hold back the mother from breastfeeding in Ramadan with an alternative. However, these methods are if buts and maybes. Allah SWT understands everyone’s situation more than anyone else.
Considering the fact that:
- The baby is an aggressive baby (requires energy)
- Another child in the house is autistic (which requires more energy to take care of)
- No one else is there to take care
- Dizziness is experienced
Your daughter can break her fast and whenever she has the ability to make up the fasts after Ramadan, she can do so. Allah SWT says in the Qur’an:
فَمَنۡ كَانَ مِنۡكُمۡ مَّرِيۡضًا اَوۡ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنۡ اَيَّامٍ اُخَرَ
And if one of you is sick, or if one of you is on a journey, you will fast the same number of other days later on. [Surah Baqarah verse 184]
Many breastfeeding mothers have the ability to fast, and many haven’t. And some have further extenuating circumstances.
Allah SWT says:
وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِى الدِّيۡنِ مِنۡ حَرَجٍ
Allah hasn’t put hardships on you in regard to religion. [Surah Hajj verse 78]
Only Allah knows best.
