Question:
In my area a Masjid was established five years ago and the land for the Masjid was granted by the landowner to the management committee on the promise of Winning Political Election. He said that if you give me your vote and I win the election, I will give you the land for the Masjid. Another thing is mostly the contribution in the infrastructural development of the Masjid contributed is Haram unlawful money by some people. Can we offer Salah in this masjid or perform the Itekaaf in the last days of Ramadan?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Yes, the Salah and Itekaaf performed in this Masjid will be valid.
Once the land has been given for a Masjid, that land now becomes waqf – donated – for the sake of Allah1. If the landowner has given the land, then that area has become a Masjid. If the infrastructure was built with haram money, though that was wrong and sinful, it will not affect the validity of the Salah or Itekaaf performed in the Masjid2.
