Question
Many years ago when I was not as observant as I should have been, there were some cases when I was in a state of major or minor ritual impurity but I prayed anyway because either I was too embarrassed to explain why I could not pray when someone asked me or there was some difficulty in getting pure and ended up praying thinking that although deficient it is for Allah, and if He wills he could accept. I am not sure if I considered praying without being pure permissible.
I was not aware that either of these could be considered as kufr.
Some of these instances may have been after my marriage, some before having kids. Having repented, I keep thinking what if I committed kufr, especially because of point number 2, what impact this action has on the state of my nikah and validity of kids? Should I repeat nikah? The guilt and uncertainty are not comfortable.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Praying without wudu isn’t kufr if the person doesn’t do it thinking that wudu or salah to be something insignificant or useless. A person should do his/her wudu then pray as prayer is one of the most sacred acts in Islam. There is no need for another nikkah or anything like that. You should repent to Allah and make a firm intention never to do it again.
