Question:

When does chasht prayer time start in the UK?

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Chasht prayer in Arabic is known as SalaatudDuha.SalaatudDuha has been established through Hadith along with its virtues, timing and number of rakats.

'AishahRadiAllahuAnha reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to perform four Rak'ah of Duha prayer (at the forenoon) and would add to them whatever Allah wished.
(RiyaadusSaliheen, Hadith 1141- extracted from Sahih Muslim)

AnasRadiyallahu 'Anhu reports:
"RasulullahSallallahu 'AlayhiWasallam performed six rak'ahs of the salaatutduha".
(ShamaailMuhammadiyyah, Hadith 289)

Anas bin MalikRadiAllahu Anh narrated that:

Allah's Messenger said: "Whoever prays twelve Rak'ah of Ad-Duha, Allah will build a castle made of gold for him in Paradise."

(JaamiTirmizi Hadith 473)

The majority of the scholars are of the view that SalatulDuha and SalatulIshraq are the same prayer.  However, some scholars are of the view that SalatulIshraq and SalatulDuha are two separate prayers.

The time from the rising of the Sun to Istiwaa us Shams (zenith) should first be calculated and then split into two parts.  The first part will be the time to offer SalatulIshraq and the second part will be the time to offer SalatulDuha.
(UmdatulFiqh p.302 v.2)

In the UK we can use a prayer timetable to help us calculate the timing for Duha. Look at the time of sunrise and the time of midday which is usually titled ‘Zawaal’. Split the time between them in two and the second half will be for SalaatudDuha.

Only Allah knows best.
