Question:

I have a problem that leads to semen discharge from my penis I have consulted doctors but there has been no cure so far. The issue is I don’t know when there is a discharge, if I have a discharge, I only come to know when I go to the toilet then I clean my clothes and then offer the salah. Sometimes I feel something has come out but there is nothing and sometimes there is really a discharge. It is not possible to determine every time for me to check if something has come out and this happens during salah and reading Quran as well. Sometimes there is discharge & sometimes there is not. Will my salah be valid? And will I be sinful that I neglected the discharge for not being sure and continued the salah?

Answer:

When you have a continuous issue leading to extended periods of not being able to keep wudu, it is considered Mazur.

The requirement is to know what the issue is and how long the duration it goes on for. This is applicable for things such as nosebleeds and urine inconsistency.

In your case of continuous discharge, you will be considered Ma’zoor and thus will renew your wudhu per prayer time. The state of a Mazur is when one has continuous illness or discharge that in a single prayer time and every prayer time after that, the discharge occurs. (1)

However, the requirement will be that one checks each Salah time to ensure they have fluid discharge in the case of the discharge seizing. Meaning, after discovering one’s illness, they are required to check if it happens at least one more time since the discovery every prayer time. So, check ones each prayer time and if it is there, they are considered to be Mazur. This dispels the worry of whether one is still experiencing the illness in the Salah or not.

Only when the illness seizes for an entire prayer time does the status of Mazur seize. (2)

Hence, if you experience the discharge regularly, the best choice is to check each Salah time and if you spot you are experiencing this, then you must prepare yourself for Salah with a fresh wudhu each Salah time if the discharge is consistent.

As Salah is a compulsory worship, to qualify as a Mazur, you will have to check each Salah time as this is the precaution you must take.
