Question:
My question is related to my second Umrah which I performed in Makkah 2 years ago where I used zero machines to remove hair even though the hair was very less I had done the first Umrah 2-3 days earlier and removed all hair using the same machine.
One of my friends told me that we can use it even if we have little hair. So I did the same for 2nd Umrah. After that, I checked online which mentioned that if your hanafi then 1/3 length is mandatory and cut is not allowed for other fiqh it is fine but shave is preferred.
I was very depressed and angry with myself but didn’t have any knowledge of what to do as I had already removed the Ihram sheets.
I checked with many people and they said no issue because the Quran ayat says either u shave or cut and the length is unspecified, but shaving is better and they said to do an Umrah and shave it before Haj. I did again Umrah after one week and shaved it before Haj.
Can I take another fiqh opinion ( as in their case length is not mandatory for trim) in this as it was done in past or should I pay dum whenever I get a chance again? If yes then how many dum? Is one dum okay?
I am getting thought about this mistake and I am getting depressed. I had already asked for forgiveness but still, I get thoughts

Answer:
In the Hanafi school of thought, both Qasr (shorten) and Halaq (complete shave) are allowed. However, Halaq is preferable and rewarding. With regards to using a machine, this will fall under the ruling of Qasr. In the Hanafi school of thought, at least 1/4 of the hair is to be taken off, not 1/3.
If after the second Umrah, you trimmed off at least ¼ of the hair on your head then the Umrah will be complete. The amount of hair that needs to be removed for ¼ is the equivalent of one’s fingertip. If that much hair at least was removed, then the Umrah is complete.
