Question:

Aslam o alikum . From the past couple of months I am going through extreme waswas in terms of my wudu and salah. Every time I started to make wudu I feel as if I am escaping gas.

Due to this I have to make wudu over and over again till I get really frustrated. This doesn't stops here. The waswas of breaking wudu continues even during my salah. The movement of gas from the passage of gas feels so real that I have to make wudu over and over again. It feels like I'm constantly escaping gas during salah.

Due to this I have started to keep a spray water bottle with me so I can make wudu every time I feel something. This is taking away khushi from my salah as i am more concerned about keeping my wudu. It took me an hour just complete prayer and even then I am not sure whether my wudu has been nullified or not.

Please help me with this problem. I really don't know what to do. This matter is getting out of my hands. I also know the ruling about waswas according to hadith but it is not helping me because I always feel as if I am passing gas silently. Please help me . May Allah bless you. Ameen.

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Asalamualaykum firstly May Allah (s.w.t)  make your situation easy and May Allah bless you with good just like he has tested you ameen.

Secondly  try to remember the fact that Your Whudu does not break until you are sure that the gas bubbles have exited your body.

(Al-fatawa Al-Hindiya page 12 publisher : Darul-kutubul-aalamiya)

So regardless, if the gas bubbles remain at the surface of the exit passage or  move throughout your body your wudu does not break.

Thirdly  in your situation I would recommend that you use smell and sound as a primary source of detecting if your whudu has broken  instead of movement of gas. This applies until your 100% sure that gas has clearly exited your body.

Allah Knows Best.
