Question:
Question shaykh: What’s the hukm of saying, Ramadan Mubarak or Kareem?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
There is nothing wrong with saying Ramadan Mubarak or Kareem to congratulate or express joy at the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan.
The Prophetﷺ gave the good news to his companions on the arrival of the month of Ramadan and said it was a ‘Mubarak’ month as reported in the following hadith.
“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to fast. In it, the gates of the heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.”‘ (Sunan an-Nasai 2106)
