Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah!

I work for a distribution branch of a company which makes cakes, slices and sandwiches. These products, not all but most of them contain either pork or alcohol. Some products are packed in a plastic bag and we also use gloves while packing them.

Is it permissible to work in such an environment? 

We don’t produce these things but we pack and distribute them among different branches of this company.

Answer:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh,

As you mentioned in your question that you work in a distribution branch of a company which makes cakes and sandwiches, and these products contain either pork or alcohol.

In this situation, it will be better for you to find an alternative and the shar'i ruling is it will be makruh tahrimi (highly dislikes) if you have other options available. It won't be haram due to not serving the haram products directly.
