Question

Assalamu Alaikum. I have a question for the Ulama. Is it permissible for a breastfeeding mother to feed her child while she is in the state of janabat? (For instance, after having intercourse with her husband)

Answer:

One of the principles in Islamic law is "الأصل في الأشياء الإباحة", meaning that things are originally permissible unless proven otherwise. There is no explicit nor implicit evidence that prohibits a mother from breastfeeding a child while being in the state of janābah (ritual impurity). She may breastfeed her child without first having taken a shower (ghusl) to purify herself.[1]
