Question

Is it permissible to use a nasal spray for hay fever during Ramadhan?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

The nasal spray will reach your brain, hence the fast will break. The reason for this is because there is a passage from the nasal leading to the brain; therefore, any medicine up the nose will reach the brain causing the fast to break. (Badaaius Sanai p.93 v.2 & Fatawa Mahmoodiyah p.139 v.10)
