Question
I wanted to confirm is it wajib to clean every limb thrice when performing wudhu? My understanding was, it’s mustahab, but I came across an article that in the books of fiqh mustahab means “wajib”. Therefore it is sinful to omit these without a valid reason.

Answer
It is obligatory(fardh) to wash each limb once and a Prophetic tradition (Sunnah) to wash each limb thrice. (Bahishti Zewar)
